Hartford, CT, Years. These images represent several directions explored during the early 70s. Many pieces involved projections and video installations, focusing on issues of temporality, memory, and ephemerality. Several pieces involve projections that are aligned precisely with the original area photographed (i.e., a filmed section of a wall projected in situ, registered exactly on the original section—in essence, a filmic reality laid upon a physical one).

However, the analog image depicts actions that modified the physical space, so that often the physical space no longer directly coincided with the filmed history. The works prompted questions about the veracity of the recording medium and the reliability of memory.
