Elevation presents an actual size (1:1), unretouched image depicting a large section of a Persian carpet. The image is unmounted, loosely hanging from the wall in a scroll-like fashion. Stray fibers on the carpet are highly visible due to the image’s high definition and the contrasting colors of the pattern. A rectangular section has been cut from the free-hanging photo leaving a 15 x 11 inch hole at its center. The excised section — highly retouched, mounted, and varnished — hangs on the right side, at eye-level, in an ornate gold gilt frame.
