Reauthorization was created for Face_Time, a project by Leigh Kane (leighkane-artworker.tumblr.com). The project challenges artists to make a self-portrait based on a self-portrait by another artist at their same age. Michael Snow’s work is extremely important to my artistic thinking. His self-portrait, Parked (1992), was made when he was 63 — my age when I made this piece. Snow’s 1969 work, Authorization, is also a self-portrait of sorts and one of my favorites. My piece for Face_Time, responds to Parked through a strategy similar to the one used by Snow in Authorization.
