Floor Models is a sketch for a larger unrealized work proposed for a gallery or museum setting. One-foot square photographs (1:1 scale) will document flooring surfaces throughout the public and private spaces of the institution. The images will be printed on a non-skid floor vinyl and installed in an exhibition space or lobby as a rectangular grid, at least 6 x 6 feet. Because of its sheerness, the temporary vinyl material telegraphs irregularities of the actual floor through the photographic image disrupting the indexical representation. The piece alludes to the conventions and etiquette of display and is an homage to Minimalism.
