New Lamps for Old
An invitational exhibition featuring 13 artists
New Lamps for Old is an exhibition prompted by Tom Patterson’s memoir about cultural life in Atlanta in the late 20th century. The Tom Patterson Years: Cultural Adventures of a Fledgling Scribe (Hiding Press/Jargon, 2021) chronicles some of his experiences as a young writer and close observer during that era, with a cast of characters that includes Jimmy Carter, the B-52’s, Bruce Hampton, Saint EOM, the Sex Pistols, the Reverend Howard Finster, and most of the artists presented in this exhibition.
